Prof. Michael Nyong

Professor of Economics and Director of Research, Department of Economics, University of Calabar, Nigeria

Thirty years at the institution. His academic training and work experience are in the use of economic theory and quantitative methods — particularly operations research and econometric techniques in macroeconomic modelling and forecasting, as well as data analysis. This is especially true of projects sponsored by the Debt Management Office (DMO) Nigeria, the Federal Ministry of Finance (FMF) and the National Planning Commission (NPC), Abuja.

• 1990–1992 — Consultant to UNDP/World Bank as coordinator of the SAATA UNDP Macroeconomic Management Programme, attached to the African Centre for Monetary Studies (ACMS), Dakar, Senegal.
• 1996–1998 — Member of the economic advisory team attached to the Minister of Finance, Nigeria, and of the development of a medium-scale macroeconomic model.
• 2002–2004 — Macroeconomic Consultant, Debt Management Office, Presidency, Nigeria.
• 2007–2009 — Consultant to the National Planning Commission (NPC), building a macroeconomic model for the 5th National Development Plan 2009–2013.
• 2009 — Member, Nigeria Vision 20:2020.
• 2014 — Consultant to the Federal Ministry of Finance for the development of a macroeconomic model for fiscal policy and forecasting.

Dr. Godwin Etta Odok

Senior Lecturer, Department of Sociology, Federal University Wukari, Nigeria

His work addresses poverty and inequality and promotes environmental and social justice through research, teaching and community service. His research and teaching interests coalesce in probing the status of social capital in enabling transformative action, so that vulnerable peoples’ groups can adapt to the burdens and benefits of global environmental and cultural change. He holds a PhD in Sociology (University of Ibadan, Nigeria) and a Law Diploma (University of Jos, Nigeria), and a Certificate in Integrated Approaches to Sustainable Development Practice (The Earth Institute at Columbia University, USA). He has taken part in local and international conferences and workshops, including the 2012 International Sociological Association (ISA) PhD Students’ Laboratory in Taipei, Taiwan, and held a postdoctoral fellowship in the Department of Sociology, University of South Africa.

He has published on climate change adaptation, healthy ageing, endogenous development, African indigenous knowledge systems, civic participation, peacebuilding, social research methods, higher education, health behaviour, migration, gender relations, the fourth industrial revolution, and spirituality and transformational learning.

Samson Adeniyi Aladejare, PhD

He received his BSc in Economics from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, and his MSc and PhD in Economics from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. He has published extensively in local and international journals and reviews for publishers including Elsevier, Springer, Emerald and Thomson Reuters. He has over a decade of research experience in public sector economics, environmental economics, energy economics and applied macroeconomics.

Ishaku Rimamtanung Nyiputen, PhD

Lecturer, Department of Economics, Federal University Wukari, Taraba State

He received his BSc in Economics from the University of Maiduguri, Borno State, and an MSc in Monetary Economics from the University of Nigeria Nsukka, Enugu State. He subsequently obtained a further MSc and a PhD in Economics from the University of Calabar, Cross River State. He has published extensively in local and international journals and reviews for publishers including the International Journal of Research and Innovation in Social Science (ISSN 2454-6186) and the International Journal of Multidisciplinary Innovative Research (ISSN 2583-0228). He has over a decade of research experience in public sector economics, environmental economics, monetary economics and applied macroeconomics.
